Media Specialist as Information Specialist
Key Assessment: Information Literacy Lesson Plan
Reflection
While working with another class, I was able to create a pathfinder of information on various animals in Papa New Guinea. The Information Literacy Lesson gave me great insight on teaching students information literacy skills and creating curated content. This unit provided me with a strong basis in developing other units, such as the collaborative unit.

Task 1: The Flipped Classroom/Library
Reflection
The flipped classroom demonstrates my ability as an information specialist to gather content and present it in a way for students to glean information. This also allowed me to maximize the limited amount of teaching times media specialists get with students. By using this format, students had already completed the most time consuming part of the lesson, allowing class time to be focused on projects and discussions. In instances where students may not have the internet at home, students could also come to the media center or computer lab during homeroom to view the videos are read over websites assigned in the flipped model.

Task 2: Fair Use Posters
Reflection
One of the responsibilities of an information specialist is to teach students ethical uses of material. After teaching many of the other units in my practicum, such as the Flipped Classroom above, the Night at the Museum unit, and the Black History Month posters, many students had already been taught about copyright, plagiarism, and fair use. I decided for this module to simply create posters that could be displayed in classrooms and the media center to simply remind them of what they had already learned.
